The plain-English version of how the preorder offer works. This whole page is the fine print, and it’s short.
The offer
Preorder Read Your Color by Steven J. Reese in any format — paperback, ebook, or audiobook — from any retailer, and receive one complimentary year of the paid tier of the Read Your Color newsletter on Substack (normally $45/year).
The deadline
Receipts must be submitted by November 2, 2026 at 11:59pm Mountain Time, when preorders end. Orders placed at any point before then qualify, including orders placed before this offer was announced.
The details
- One complimentary year per order. If you preorder two copies, thank you, and that’s two receipts and two years if you want to gift one to another email address — just note it in the form.
- Current paid subscribers get the free year added to the end of their existing subscription. Nobody loses paid time they’ve already bought.
- The comp year does not auto-renew into a charge. When it ends, you decide what happens next.
- Refunding or cancelling the preorder is between you and the retailer, but if a preorder is cancelled before the book ships, I may remove the comp year.
- I review submissions by hand and may decline receipts that appear altered or duplicated. If yours is declined, I’ll email you rather than quietly reject it.
The boring but necessary part
This offer is run by Steven J. Reese, not by any retailer, and not by Penguin Random House or Substack. It can be extended but won’t be cut short: if the offer somehow ends early, any receipt submitted before the change still counts.
